Transportation Services

One of the objectives of the Older Americans Act is “efficient community services, including access to low cost transportation, which provide a choice in supported living arrangements ...”   Almost 50 years later, transportation ranks as the primary issue of concern for older adults.

In response to this need, we grant OAA Title III funding to community organization providing medical transportation at no cost to individuals 60 and older. See the current list of grant recipients.

In addition, a number of cities, towns, and some senior centers provide transportation assistance for older adults, and there are also other options for older adults and individuals with disabilities, such as Dial-a-Ride.
