Housekeeping & Shopping Services
Assistance with housekeeping, chores and shopping assistance are common needs for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Programs that Provide In-Home Assistance
Individuals may be eligible for programs that provide these services at no cost or for a modest fee. AOASCC information counselors can help walk you through the possible state, federal and community benefit programs. Use our contact form or call 203-785-8533 to connect with our Aging and Disability Resource Center.
In Your Community
Through Older Americans Act funding, AOASCC provides grants to community organizations that provide homemaking and shopping assistance at no cost to individual 60 and older. See the list of current grant recipients.
Shopping Assistance
Do you need just a small stop-gap to make sure you have needed groceries?
If you are a home bound older adult, and within the income guidelines, we can provide a one time purchase of $100 worth of groceries. We will also periodically reach out to offer additional deliveries of groceries from a Food Pantry.
In order to qualify you must be currently home bound, an older adult at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, and live in our service area. Once you are found eligible by a CHOICES counselor, we will take a list of the items you are looking for, reach out to volunteer, and coordinate both the purchasing and delivery to your doorstep.
These are certainly unique times, and we will help the best we can! To find out if you will qualify, please contact us at 203-785-8533 and choose option 3 to speak with a CHOICES counselor.
