Opportunities to Volunteer
Engagement in the community is an important part of healthy aging. Volunteers not only have the opportunity to make a difference, but research has found that volunteering provides mental and physical health benefits.
Here are a few of the ways you can give back to your community by sharing your time, skills, and experiences. Some programs have age and income requirements, and several include a stipend.
There are a wide array of opportunities available. Some opportunities only require an hour a month, others a weekly schedule. We'll find the one that is right for you!
- Spend time with someone isolated or lonely. Whether it is scheduled ongoing visits through the Senior Companion Program or an occasional check-in and conversation as a RSVP volunteer, your friendship can make all the difference in someone’s life.
- Provide support through the Medical Transportation Chaperone Program for someone in need of non-medical assistance as they travel to and from medical procedures and doctor visits.
- Make a difference in a child’s life by becoming a foster grandparent - mentoring and spending special time with children who need help at a critical time in their lives.
- Empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to address health care fraud through the SMP program, or qualify as a certified CHOICES team member to assist individuals enrolling in Medicare health plans.
