Go "Back to School"

This fall, older adults will go “back to school” in area elementary schools once again to help young children learn to read as volunteers with AARP Experience Corps – Greater New Haven.  Experience Corps is a national, award winning literacy program that helps struggling students become great readers.

Trained volunteers tutor and mentor students in kindergarten through third grade in New Haven, Hamden and East Haven elementary schools and at New Haven Reads after-school tutoring program. Research shows that Experience Corps improves the literacy rates of children, enriches the lives of our volunteers and strengthens schools in our communities.

Volunteers, age 50 and older, are needed to tutor three times a week (8+ hours/week) for the 2015-2016 school year. Training and ongoing support are provided. Click here for more information or contact program manager Sheila Greenstein.
