It has come to the attention of the SMP staff that some new and nasty genetic testing scams are being offered to our Seniors. Throughout the country these scams are becoming more frequent and the scammers are using new and alarming techniques.
By volunteering with CHOICES, you can become an integral member of the growing effort to educate the community about Medicare and other programs that can help beneficiaries with their out of pocket medical costs. There is no cost for community volunteers.

The Federal Farm Bill will be reauthorized in September. Your advocacy is needed to ensure that SNAP is protected for those that rely on this benefit to buy groceries each month, including 4.8 millions older adults.

This same excitement remains the same with two Pen Pal Projects coordinated by our RSVP Volunteer Program.

In January the RSVP and Experience Corps programs held an Appreciation Luncheon. It was wonderful to witness perfect strangers who have so much in common - the willingness to give to others! There were volunteers from every aspect of service; from Friendly Visitors and Money Managers to tutors, knitters and pen pals.
